To SLATE in the County
Conference & Workshop scheduled for April 15 & 16, 2012 in Ameliasburgh,
Prince Edward County, Ontario, Canada. The initial communication
has been forwarded by email to all SLATE contacts in southern Ontario including
similar sites in Canada, the United States, professional Teachers’ organizations,
and other interested groups. Information related
to the history of SLATE, plans for the SLATE in the County 2012 Conference &
Workshop, and the Quinte Educational Museum & Archives (QEMA), will be featured
on QEMA’s website,
www.qema1978.com
as it becomes available.
Rooms with special conference
rates have been booked at the Travelodge Hotel, 11 Bay Bridge
Rd, Belleville, Ontario CA, K8P 3P6. These
rooms will be held until March 15th. Links are provided
for other accommodation facilities listed in the tourist bureau websites
for Prince Edward County and the City of Belleville. QEMA’s Planning Committee
has tentatively planned to accommodate 100 attendees. Interested participants
should plan to register early using the registration form provided in the
SLATE section of the website. The Conference fee will be $45.00 and
we are requesting payment through PayPal. The Conference will
begin with a “Meet & Greet” Reception at the Ameliasburgh Town Hall
on Sunday April 15th , followed by a one day conference on the 16th
using the facilities of the Ameliasburgh Town Hall, The Ameliasburgh Historical
Museum and Pioneer Village and QEMA’s Victoria Schoolhouse. We are hopeful that
our Conference participants will plan to spend the weekend or even a week
in historic Prince Edward County and the Quinte area. Links to local
County information including the City of Belleville are provided for reference.
In addition, YouTube slide presentations of interest have been included. Use the convenient email
response page provided, should you have specific requests for information. We look forward with
anticipation to your visit with us.
